About alittlehelp
My name is Julie-Anne Harrison and I established alittlehelp in 2012 as I wanted to provide one on one support to parents and their babies, after working for many years in the hospital and community setting.
Continuity of care helps reduce stress. I value that I bring my experience as a midwife and child health nurse to my practice as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.
Julie-Anne Harrison
(she/her) RN RM CHN IBCLC
I have been working with parents and babies for over 30 years and during that time have been very aware of the need for compassionate, evidenced-based support during an often-challenging time.
I have worked as a midwife in postnatal units, special care and neonatal intensive care nurseries. Since gaining tertiary qualifications in Child Youth and Family Health, I am now able to work with families beyond the early weeks, addressing the older baby’s feeding challenges.
As an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant I am required to maintain and update my knowledge of breastfeeding so that I deliver current evidence informed lactation care.
In my role as an IBCLC I have presented to the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners on the subject of “Infant Feeding in the Fourth Trimester – Supporting the mother-infant dyad” and have also presented “Feeding in the First Year” to mothers’ groups. I really enjoy doing this!
I have been privileged to have been asked to share my thoughts of being an IBCLC in private practice, for World Breastfeeding Week.
I feel very fortunate that my passion is also my job and would love to work with you! I want you to feel supported, and be confident with feeding your baby.
I have undertaken courses and regularly attend conferences, to continue to update my knowledge.
