About alittlehelp

My name is Julie-Anne Harrison and I established alittlehelp in 2012 as I wanted to provide one on one support to new mums and their babies.

Julie-Anne Harrison (she/her) RN RM CHN IBCLC

I have been working with mothers and babies for over 30 years and during that time have become very aware of the need for compassionate, evidenced-based support during this often-challenging time. My two now adult daughters, taught me a lot about breastfeeding and helped me understand that establishing breastfeeding can sometimes be difficult but also very rewarding.

My passion for supporting mothers and families began during my midwifery training. Since then, I have enjoyed working with families in different settings, from maternity units, to special care nurseries and a neonatal intensive care unit. After gaining tertiary qualifications in Child, Youth and Family Health, I am now able to work with infants and their families beyond the neonatal period. This has been beneficial in enabling me to support families with older babies and toddlers.

As an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, I am able to provide up to date advice and support when it comes to breastfeeding infants and toddlers. This credential requires ongoing education to maintain competency in breastfeeding and lactation care. In my role as an IBCLC I have presented to the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners on the subject of “Infant Feeding in the Fourth Trimester – Supporting the mother-infant dyad”. I have also presented “Feeding in the First Year” and “The Fourth Trimester” to mothers’ groups.

I feel very fortunate that my passion is also my job. My aim is to work with you to help you achieve your goals. I respect the need to do this in a way that works for you. It is my hope that you feel supported with a little help, which will enable you to feel more confident with parenting your baby.
